Senior Celeb: Angel Martinez

As we begin another fantastic school year here at South El Monte High School, we would like to recognize this year’s Senior Celebrity, Angel Martinez. Not only is he our 2017/2018 senior celebrity, but he as well is our ASB Senior President. From letting us know about his experience at South El Monte High School to letting us know about his future Angel Martinez is a proud student here at South El Monte.
Rather than stressing over his senior year Angel seems pretty laid back about it. He explains to us that the most exciting part of his senior year is being able to be a part of ASB. In addition, he says “Being President is cool because I get to plan events, make decisions, and get to host senior events.”
Not to mention the extra curricular activities he is involved in afterschool. He tells us that he plays baseball during the spring and this year he would like to join the track team. When asked how long he has been playing baseball, Angel states, “I have been playing baseball since I was six.”
However, when Angel has some free time he says he spends his time at school, work, sleeping, or eating. At school he is usually working on any homework or school projects. At home he usually relaxes, enjoys to eat and as well likes to sleep.
When asked if he had any embarrassing stories Angel Martinez explains to us one of his embarrassing stories was in the beginning of this year in September. Martinez said that he had woke up late in the morning and had to get to school but had a pile of dirty and clean clothes. In the chaos of trying to get to school on time he had accidentally left the zipper of his backpack open. After that occured he states, “My boxers were on the dirty pile of the clothes and somehow ended up hanging out of my backpack.” “ Unaware of this I proceeded on to school normally.” Right before he got to school he noticed something on his backpack. Shook, he rapidly grabbed the pair of boxers and shoved them back inside his backpack. He then carried on with his day as if nothing had happened. From this you can see that mistakes happen, also that you should keep your clean and dirty pile of clothes away from each other.
Additionally, he tells us that the most memorable parts of high school have been the fun things he has done with his friends. He likes and cares for his friends as well. Furthermore, he says, “I like to hang out with them and spend some time with them as well.”
To Angel High School was something he saw coming. So far he has enjoyed his three years here at South El Monte High School hoping this year, his senior year is as great as the three years before.
After graduating high school he still doesn’t know what to do with his life. When asked, “what are you doing right now,” he let’s us know, “right now I am working.” Later throughout the years state's Martinez, “I would like to continue working while possibly attending college.”
In essence, he would like to give a shout out to Mr. Lopez for letting him out of class to be interviewed, Mr. Castellanos for being an excellent teacher, and Mr. Torres for the great advice he has given him.
